The Podiatric Surgeons Society of India (PSSI) is the national association representing surgeons specialising in the comprehensive surgical care of the lower limb, covering the management of diabetic foot disorders, vascular and venous diseases, trauma, sports injuries, deformities, nerve and tendon pathologies, as well as soft tissue, bone reconstruction, and chronic wound care.

India carries one of the world’s heaviest burdens of diabetic foot disease and complex lower-limb disorders, where timely surgical intervention can mean the difference between mobility and amputation. PSSI was formed to bring structure, focus, and representation to this critical domain. The society works to define national standards of surgical care, foster education and research, and promote interdisciplinary collaboration among surgeons and related specialties. By creating a common platform for clinical exchange, policy advocacy, and innovation, PSSI seeks to strengthen the recognition of podiatric and lower-limb surgery as an essential pillar of modern surgical practice in India.

Membership in the Podiatric Surgeons Society of India (PSSI) is open to qualified surgeons engaged in the surgical care of the lower limb — including those specialising in general, orthopaedic, vascular, and plastic surgery.

The society welcomes individuals who are actively involved in podiatric, reconstructive, or diabetic foot surgery, and who share its commitment to advancing the science, education, and standards of lower-limb surgical care in India. It identifies a surgeon as committed to excellence in podiatric and diabetic foot surgery and as part of the only professional society dedicated exclusively to this specialty in India.
